Don’t miss this evening of some of North America’s best vocal jazz as Alex Bird & The Jazz Mavericks take the stage at the Shelburne Legion.
Alex Bird is a Toronto based jazz singer, songwriter and actor. Bird, along with his songwriting partner and pianist Ewen Farncombe, has been nominated for 2 JUNO awards for “Best Vocal Jazz Album”: first in 2022 for “You Are The Light And The Way” and most recently in 2024 for “Songwriter”. Their most recent project, “Casanova, Bossa Nova, Lover Man” is a collaboration with Latin Grammy Award winner Cheo and will be available this summer.
Alex and his band “The Jazz Mavericks” are working on an entirely new chapter of the Great American Songbook; they are pushing the boundaries of a beautiful tradition and bringing it into a new era.
